LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A man was sentenced to one year in prison after entering a guilty plea.
According to a Facebook post from the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorneys’ (SWJC) Office, on June 15, Patrick Brookerd, 40, pleaded guilty to the following:
- Sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 (two counts)
- Cruelty to children in the second degree

The prosecutor over the case, Chief ADA Tami Peavy-Owen, recommended that Brookerd be sentenced to 15 years, with the first seven years to be served in prison.
Instead, Brookerd received a 15-year sentence with one year to serve in prison.
The case was investigated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office SVU. Chief Judge R. Rucker Smith sentenced Brookerd.
“We are grateful to bring closure to the victim in this case.”
