PELHAM, Ga. (WALB) —A Mitchell County family is still pushing for answers two years after their loved one was killed in a hit-and-run.

Amos Anderson, 88, was hit and killed outside his home on Mount Olive Road on Sept. 20, 2024. Two years later, his family still does not know who was responsible.

According to authorities, Anderson was picking up trash along the road in front of his house when he was hit. The impact threw him into a ditch, where he died.

His body was found by someone driving by.

The driver who hit him turned around and left the scene, authorities said. Authorities believe the suspect vehicle is a medium metallic gray truck or SUV.

“We need closure. It ain’t right,” said Ann Anderson Bond, Amos’ daughter. “I kissed my Daddy at the funeral home, and I promised him that we would find who did this.”
