CAMILLA — Mitchell County announced Wednesday it has hired Kaream Hess as its new head football coach for the 2026 season.
Hess spent the last two seasons as head coach at Montgomery County, compiling a 4-16 record during that time. Before his head coaching stint, he served on coaching staffs at Turner County and Tift County.
The new Eagles coach is a graduate of Tift County High School and Albany State University.
Cook County promotes assistant coach
Cook County officially promoted safeties coach Cornelius “Pig” Brown to lead the Hornets program following board approval that passed Wednesday morning in Adel.
Brown replaces Byron Slack, who led Cook County for the past four seasons.
This marks Brown’s second head coaching opportunity. He previously served as co-head coach of the Nebraska Danger in the Indoor Football League. Brown played at Missouri in 2006 and 2007, recording 110 tackles and three interceptions during his college career.
Monroe remains the only South Georgia team with a head coach vacancy.
