Monroe’s Brayden Burns has been named this week’s Albany State University Player of the Week after leading his team to back-to-back region championships.

Burns scored 18 points against Bainbridge, hitting the game-tying shot and nailing a free throw with seconds remaining to win the game for Monroe.

Against the Trojans, Burns scored 20 points with 12 coming from free throws.

“It’s great. It feels great. We did it as a team. We won it as a team,” Burns said. “If it went for me and my team, we went with it. So I always got my team behind my back.”
