ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Multiple people were injured when a small plane crashed in south Georgia Thursday afternoon.
The plane crashed around 4:15 p.m. in Folkston, right on the border with Florida, according to a report from WJAX, a CBS affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida.
Officials said the plane is believed to have left the runway while it was landing at the Davis Field airport. The left wing of the plane reportedly hit a tree and broke off during the crash.
Six people were on board, including two children, according to the Charlton County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said four adults were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two men were seriously injured.
They said the two children were taken to the hospital out of precaution.
WJAX reports that the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will visit the airport Friday morning to investigate the cause of the crash.
