ADEL, Ga. (WALB) — The National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) Southern Nationals race will return to South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) in 2027 for the second year in a row.
The 2027 NHRA schedule was released on Thursday, Aug. 27. The Southern Nationals event is scheduled for April 30, 2027, through May 2, 2027.
On May 1, 2026, the NHRA national speed record was set at SGMP by Shawn Langdon. Langdon piloted his Top Fuel dragster to 345 mph, running 1,000 feet in 3.724 seconds, according to the NHRA.

“We’re extremely honored to have the second annual Southern Nationals coming back to South Georgia Motorsports Park, and I’ll tell you, the stamp that we laid on last year’s event allowed us to get recognition not only in the region, but throughout the country and the world with that 345 miles per hour pass.”
The 2027 NHRA season will celebrate the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force for “50 years of Force.”
