OCILLA, Ga. (WALB) - The Ocilla Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to the tragic death of a South Georgia child.

Sedrick Hall Jr., 24, of Ocilla, Georgia, has been arrested and charged in connection to the death of 4-year-old Channin Wooden.

Police tell WALB that Hall, the boyfriend of Channin’s mother, was at home watching four children including Channin when the incident took place.

While police have not disclosed the injures that Channin sustained during the incident or how he received the injures, they did tell us that Channin’s mother was the one to notify police. She was reportedly at work at the time the incident occurred.

Following an investigation conducted by the Ocilla Police Department in partnership with the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Hall was charged with the following offenses:

• Felony murder
• Cruelty to children-first degree
• Aggravated battery
