Description
PEARSON, Ga. (WALB) - The Pearson Police Department (PPD) announced upcoming traffic changes as the 2025-2026 school year starts.
Pearson Elementary School asked the police department to assist with traffic control for the first day of school, according to PPD. Atkinson County Schools will start back up on Friday, Aug. 1.
PPD said King Street between McNeal Avenue and W. Lott Avenue will be blocked by patrol cars. Anyone dropping off their kids will enter on W. Lott Avenue. After dropping off their kids, drivers will then exit onto King Street and be routed down McNeal Avenue and back out on Main Street.
Those coming in from the north end of King Street to drop off their kids will be routed down McNeal Avenue West, turn onto Main Street, and enter the drop-off line on W. Lott Avenue.
Teachers will be able to get into their parking areas on McNeal Avenue West and on Lott Avenue, as usual, according to PPD.

Traffic not dropping off kids is asked to use McNeal Avenue West from Main Street.
