ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - In honor of National Women’s Physician Day, Phoebe Putney Health System recognized all 49 of its women physicians across 20 specialties across the health system.
Three physicians, Dr. Estrellita Redmon, Dr. Mana Kasongo, and Dr. Kristin Tott, have a collective experience of 78 years in medicine and also currently hold numerous leadership roles in the healthcare system.
The holiday also honors the legacy of Elizabeth Blackwell, who was the first black woman in the country to earn a medical degree in 1849.
Officials at Phoebe Health System say that the day serves as a celebration and a continued commitment to supporting women physicians.
