Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Dougherty County Police Department (DCPD) recovered four firearms as part of their investigation into a June 24 shooting, they said. Three of the four firearms were stolen, and DCPD linked the stolen weapons to cases being investigated by the Americus, Thomasville and Albany police departments, according to a DCPD press release.

DCPD said that they are investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24 in the 3600 block of Parr Road in Dougherty County.

The police department said that officers initially responded to the scene after reports that a residence was shot at. When officers arrived, they found 38 shell casings, which they said indicates that shots were fired from three separate weapons.

After identifying a suspect vehicle and multiple people connected to the case, who they did not name in the press release, DCPD said they executed a search warrant on June 27. The search was conducted in the 1500 block of Avalon Avenue. There, DCPD said a total of four firearms were seized.

DCPD said that two individuals are in custody and facing multiple weapons charges in connection to this case. They did not identify those individuals or their specific charges.

The police department said that more arrests and charges are “pending” as officials continue to investigate.
