ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -

OVERVIEW: Hope you like the warm temperatures because they won’t go away this week. Next week does look a bit chilly though. Our next storm system passes over the weekend bringing unseasonably cool temperatures.

TONIGHT-WEDNESDAY: A chilly night is ahead. Skies will be mostly clear with light winds, so temperatures will fall near the dewpoint, in the low 40s. As a result, a few areas of patchy fog will be possible in the morning, however models are not suggesting anything dense or widespread.

Afternoon highs rebound back into the 70s Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.

Another potentially foggy start to your Wednesday, highs gradually increase into the mid-upper 70s areawide in the afternoon. Rain looks to stay away through mid week.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: High temperatures may be record breaking to end the week, pushing into the low 80s. The record for high temperatures on Thursday and Friday is 82, both set back in 2018, we are forecast to exceed that Friday.

However, rain is possible Friday ahead of our next big weather system. Long term models are not in agreement for Friday, but there is a chance we see a few showers Friday. If we see widespread coverage of rainfall, we likely won’t even break into the 80s. If it is more isolated, the potential for record breaking temperatures increase. I am leaning towards the isolated chance for Friday instead of the widespread chance.

WEEKEND/EARLY NEXT WEEK: The weekend brings a cool down and a chance for storms Saturday lingering into the overnight. Its too far out for any discussion on severe weather, but thunderstorms do look possible Saturday. The rain does bring cooler temperatures to begin next week. We will have more information on the impacts you can expect for the weekend later on this week.
