VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Reports of gunfire in a Valdosta neighborhood led to a narcotics arrest on Saturday, March 7, officials said.
47-year-old James Pierce was arrested on several felony charges after police reportedly found that he fired a pistol several times from his driveway.
Valdosta Police (VPD) officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Ricardo Street after residents reported several gunshots. Responding officers said they observed Pierce with a pistol in his pocket in the area. Pierce ran into his home and came back outside without the firearm, according to VPD.
While being questioned, officers reportedly found evidence that a gun was recently fired in Pierce’s driveway. The officers obtained a search warrant for the home. The search resulted in two pistols, ammunition, 375 grams of marijuana, 30 grams of methamphetamine, pills and two THC vapes being recovered, VPD said.

Pierce, a previously convicted felon, was arrested and faces several charges including:
- Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon - felony;
- Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute - felony;
- Trafficking methamphetamine - felony;
- Possession of a Schedule IV narcotic - felony;
- Possession of drug-related objects;
- Reckless conduct - misdemeanor;
- Disorderly conduct - misdemeanor.
