Description
CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Crisp County residents were displaced from their homes after it caught fire on Wednesday, June 10. No injuries were reported, officials said, thanks to several safety precautions they followed in the critical moments of the fire.
Crisp County Fire and Rescue (CCFR) said they arrived at the scene at about 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday. CCFR said that the occupants were found together, outside the home, at a designated meeting place.
Officials encouraged everyone to follow similar practices, such as the following:
- Have a home escape plan in place and practice it regularly
- Make sure your home has a working smoke alarm*
- “Close before you doze”: Closing doors helps keep fire out of individual rooms, limiting possible damage
*CCFR said if you do not have a working smoke alarm, contact them, and they can install one in your home.
The fire department thanked Crisp County EMS and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this incident.
