BOSTON, Ga. (WALB) — The restaurant inside Albany’s new St. Nicholas Hotel got four infractions on its latest health inspection, two of which were corrected while inspectors were at the facility. Down in Boston, though, a popular tea and shake spot got a perfect score on their inspection.

Boston Nutrition owner Amber Vega said a perfect food service inspection score is more than a number—It’s proof that day-to-day discipline matters.
Boston Nutrition, a shop known for protein shakes and protein iced coffees, along with refrigerated items and occasional baked goods, recently received a 100 on its food service inspection.

For Vega, the top score reflects what happens when no one is watching.
“It means everything. I mean, in the end, it comes down to consistency, you know, consistency under pressure to do the right thing when nobody’s watching and to maintain that.”
Vega said keeping the shop “inspection ready” starts with food safety and avoiding cross-contamination, especially for customers with allergies.
“We definitely want to ensure that our guests, that our clients are safe and that we’re serving the best, you know, the freshest quality.”
With blenders, scoops and other tools used throughout the day, Vega said Boston Nutrition relies on standard sanitation practices and routine checklists.
“We have a three-compartment sink, and we follow the wash, rinse and sanitize,” Vega said. “We have daily checklists.”
She added that an air-drying station helps ensure utensils are completely dry before being stored.
Vega said she currently runs the shop on her own and follows the same routine each day to stay thorough.
That includes monitoring dates and using a “first in, first out” approach for items in the refrigerator and on shelves.
“By following that first in, first out, it really does ensure that, you know, the freshest quality possible.”
Vega said the shop has maintained a perfect inspection record since before opening.
She described the mindset as staying prepared at all times.
“We’re always ‘game ready’ is what I call it,” Vega said.
Vega said she wants customers to feel confident when they walk in the door.
“We’re not looking for perfection, we’re looking for consistency,” she said, adding that small habits—“the additional couple of seconds”—can make the difference.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, Vega said she hopes to expand the team and increase delivery availability beyond the current schedule.
Boston Nutrition’s current hours are:
- Monday–Friday: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vega said the shop currently offers deliveries on Mondays, with hopes of adding more days as staffing grows.
Vega said she also plans to participate in pop-ups and collaborate with other local businesses.
“When I opened Boston Nutrition, that was my heart, and it still is, is to support local… to support the community.”
Boston Nutrition is also approaching its first anniversary in October.
