Description

PLAINS, Ga. (WALB) – The National First Ladies Day Commission, in partnership with The Society of Presidential Descendants, will honor former First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s birthday with a public wreath-laying ceremony.

The ceremony will be held on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Carter Gardens in Jimmy Carter National Historical Park.

This marks the inaugural event recognizing former first ladies in this manner and will feature descendants of other presidential families in attendance.

Attendees should note that parking is limited along Woodland Drive for passenger vehicles only, with no access for oversized vehicles, RVs, or buses. One-way traffic will be in effect, entering from U.S. 280 (Church Street). Public restrooms are not available on-site, but facilities and additional parking are located at Plains High School (0.7 miles) and Downtown Plains (0.4 miles).

Leashed pets are welcome on walkways and the south lawn. The Carter Home remains closed to the public. For park updates, visit www.nps.gov/jimmycarter.
