CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - The officer injured in the Friday, Dec. 5 standoff in Tifton is back home, according to Cordele Police (CPD).
In a Facebook post, CPD said it was participated in sending Tifton Police officer Jerry Fulford home.
“Seeing Officer Fulford surrounded by support and encouragement was truly uplifting. We were grateful to stand alongside our partners at the Cordele Fire Department, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Crisp County EMS, and the Georgia State Patrol as we celebrated this meaningful step in his recovery.
We’re cheering for you, Officer Fulford, and wishing you strength, continued progress, and a smooth road ahead. Welcome home!"
Over the weekend, Detective Michael Gaskins was also welcomed home with a motorcade.
WALB previously reported the Officer Fulford and Detective Michael Gaskins were shot while trying to serve a warrant to Davy Deonte Royal, 35.
Now, both Officer Fulford and Detective Gaskins are home with family.
