Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A First Alert Weather Day is in effect until 9PM Saturday, Feb. 21 for the threat of severe thunderstorms. Fortunately, the threat for a tornado seems very low, however the chances for hail and damaging winds seem more likely as a result.
The chances for severe weather are low, but isolated damaging winds and hail impacts look possible as storms continue to strengthen heading into the early evening. Isolated, heavy downpours will also be likely, with some areas potentially seeing upwards to three inches of rain by the end of the day. Rainfall totals generally seem to decrease the further south you go in the viewing area, which follows the severe threat which seems to fall off some in our Florida-Georgia border counties.
Severe threat falls off late tonight, but the chances for a couple thunderstorms and heavier showers still exist as the cold front passes overnight, severe threat seems near 0%. Cold weather takes back over to begin next week.
