ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The man who fell to his death Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia was a “cherished” educator with Atlanta Public Schools (APS), the district said on Tuesday.

Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, died after falling from the Goliath roller coaster, according to the Cobb County Police Department. Investigators said he was ejected from the ride and struck other patrons before falling beneath the attraction.

Kariem’s family said he was a beloved father.
