(Gray News) – Actor Walter Koenig, who was known for his role in the “Star Trek” franchise, has died, according to reports.
He was 90 years old.
Koenig played the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov in the original “Star Trek” series. TMZ was first to report his death.
Galactic Productions said in a post on Facebook the actor died of old age Sunday night at a home in North Hollywood surrounded by his daughter and niece.

“Walter’s legacy extends far beyond the screen. Through countless convention appearances and interactions with fans, he shared his kindness, wit, and appreciation with everyone fortunate enough to meet him,” the post said.
According to the appearance agency, Koenig was most recently recognized for his short film, “Mr. Fleischmann,” for which he received the Platinum Award for Best Actor at the 2026 Independent Shorts Award.
“Thank you, Walter, for the memories, the inspiration, and for boldly going where few have gone before,” the post said.
