TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - State Representative Austin Scott (R-GA) made a trip to Tift County on Wednesday, Feb. 19, to present two police officers with flags flown in their honor.
Detective Michael Gaskins and Detective Jerry Fulford were both shot in the line of duty in Dec. 2025 while attempting to execute a search warrant.
A flag was also presented to Police Chief Steve Hyman to honor the entire Tifton Police Department.

During the flag presentation, Chief Hyman announced Detective Fulford’s promotion to Senior Patrolman. This promotion was originally scheduled for Dec. 5, 2025, but was postponed due to the incident.
