SOUTH Ga. (WALB) – The State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has approved over $3 million in funding to create the TITAN College & Career Academy in Turner County, marking a major investment in the region’s educational and workforce development.

The funding, approved at the board’s June 2025 meeting in Rome, Georgia, supports a regional partnership between Turner County Schools, Irwin County Schools, Wilcox County Schools, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Southern Regional Technical College, and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.

The new academy is designed to give high school students access to advanced education and training aligned with in-demand career fields. It will combine academic instruction with hands-on experiences to better prepare students for technical college programs, apprenticeships, and high-wage careers after graduation.

Leaders say the TITAN Academy will help meet the growing workforce needs of South Georgia by equipping students with real-world skills and certifications before they graduate high school.

Construction timelines and enrollment plans will be announced in the coming months.
