Description
COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - On July 10, 1937, a single spark changed everything for the residents of Colquitt County.
With the flip of a switch, the Colquitt County Rural Electric Company energized the first unit of its system. The 15-mile stretch from Moultrie to Berlin provided power to 36 customers who turned their lights on for the very first time at 7:15 p.m.
Today, the Colquitt Electric Membership Corporation has 45,000 members across seven Georgia counties.
