TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — New upgrades to Tift County High School gymnasium are ready for the 2026–2027 school year.

The gymnasium, known as “The Palace,” received a new floor, a digital scoreboard, and replacement basketball goals. The scoreboard and basketball goals were original equipment in the building.

The upgrades came after 28 years of service. The Gym began serving Tift County students in 1998.

School leaders said the refreshed court “provides a fresh look while helping preserve the longevity of the playing surface.”

“The Palace has been an important part of Tift County High School for nearly 30 years. These upgrades not only enhance the appearance and functionality of the facility, but they also demonstrate our commitment to providing students with high-quality learning and athletic environments.”

The gym is a multi-use facility, hosting basketball games, athletic events, prep rallies, community events and Physical education courses.
