ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) -The frantic search for a missing Enterprise, Alabama toddler revives haunting memories of other missing people from only a few miles away.

While the cases are different and unrelated, the common bond is pain left by mysterious disappearances.

2-year-old Genesis Reid was reported missing on Monday, while Kemberly Ramer, an Opp High School senior, was 17 years old when she vanished.

Ramer was last seen on Aug. 15, 1997. Since then, there has been nary a sign of her.

She had been to the ball field that hot summer night, then gone to her dad’s house a few blocks away. Investigators believe somebody kidnapped from the home her since Kemberly’s car was still in the driveway.

Nobody knows, and so many years later, nobody may ever know what happened to Kemberly, a great friend to many.

Every few years a tip leads officers on a new hunt for Kemberly, whose family has long accepted she is dead, and each time the search turns up empty.

Investigators have theories but not enough evidence to make an arrest.

Shanna Genelle People’s hasn’t been seen since September 8, 2011. That’s when she vanished while walking near her Geneva County home.

Like the Ramer case, there is much speculation but police have not charged anyone and Shanna, presumed dead, is still missing.

Then, there’s Sherry Marler, a 12-year-old girl from Greenville, Alabama, who disappeared in 1984. She walked across the bank to a gas station in the small south Alabama town and was never seen again.

The search for Genesis is still in its first week, but police admit they are baffled and keep hoping for a tip that will lead them the missing girl.
