Description
CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - On Saturday, Jan. 3, a deputy from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) conducted a traffic stop on a white Mercedes traveling northbound on Joe Wright Drive after observing a headlight requirement violation.
The deputy reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle during the stop. The driver was identified as Johntava Jones.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery and seizure of multiple suspected illegal substances and related items.

The items found are listed below:
- MDMA (Ecstasy) pills
- Oxycodone pills
- Phentermine pills
- Marijuana (approximately 13 grams)
- Digital scale
- Packaging materials
Officials said that Jones was taken into custody after briefly resisting instructions but was secured without further incident. Additional evidence, including cash, was also collected.
Johntava Jones, a 37-year-old male from Cordele, was transported to the Crisp County Jail and is charged with:
- Headlights Requirement Violation
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
- Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Possession and Use of Drug-Related Objects
- Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers
