TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — Two Tifton County High School basketball players signed Thursday to continue their athletic careers at the college level.
Amiya Jordan will attend Tallahassee State College. Jordan has played basketball since she was four years old.
“It actually means a lot to me. I’ve been playing basketball since I was four, so I’ve been on a long journey. I’m just excited for the next step,” Jordan said.
Jordan said the team atmosphere at Tallahassee State stood out to her.
“The team, how warm they are to each other, how they connect, you know, and plus I love the school, so I love Tallahassee overall,” Jordan said.
Jaziyah Johnson will attend LaGrange College. Johnson said she had a difficult path to signing day.
“It’s just a great blessing because I had a long, hard, tough journey, so I’m just very blessed to be able to continue this career,” Johnson said.
Johnson said the coaching staff at LaGrange made her decision clear.
“It’s just the coaches, and they made me feel like family from the start, so I decided to choose them. They brought me in straight ahead, and it’s great coaches and great environment and community,” Johnson said.
Johnson said her support system at Tifton County played a significant role in her journey.
“It means a lot. They play a huge role. They support me through everything. They always there for me,” Johnson said.
Tifton County coach Julie Conner has sent multiple players to the college level.
