ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Friday, April 17, Dougherty County Schools announced that a student was located and taken into custody without incident after an incident that prompted a school lockdown Thursday.
Westover High School went on a soft lockdown Thursday, April 16, after a credible report that a student may have been on campus with a weapon, school communications officials confirmed.
No injuries were reported, the Dougherty County School System (DCSS) said.

Some parents and guardians came to the school to pick their students up.
WALB first heard reports of a lockdown situation at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. It is unclear exactly when the soft lockdown started.
The school system thanked local law enforcement and DCSS police for their quick response Thursday. They encourage parents to always rely on “official DCSS communication channels for accurate information.”
