ATKINSON COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Atkinson County EMA crews extinguished a fully involved vehicle fire off Guthrie Heights Road in Axson Saturday night, fire officials say.

Fire officials say they arrived to find the vehicle burning and quickly put out the flames.

Atkinson County EMA tells WALB that the cause and origin are still undetermined due to extensive damage.

The owner reports that the vehicle had a recall due to a possible fire risk, but officials have not released the make or model. Witnesses say the vehicle was making some kind of noise before the owner went inside and later came back out to find it on fire.

Authorities say there was no damage to nearby property and no injuries were reported.
