VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - Valdosta Police say they have arrested multiple teenagers following a Wednesday afternoon fight at Valdosta High School.

Videos of the incident circulating on social media show what appears to be a large crowd of students gathering outside before a fight breaks out.

The videos have garnered thousands of views and show a handful of female teenagers wailing on an individual who appears to be a student, just before she falls to the ground. Moments later, an officer intervened.

“As the videos show, the altercation was promptly addressed by school administrators and the SROs, resulting in the arrest of some of the juveniles involved,” VPD said in a press release.

WCTV is currently working on obtaining copyright permission to share videos of the incident.

VPD said there are “no reports of serious injuries because of the altercation,” and did not release the names of those involved in the fight as they are minors.

Valdosta High shared a statement Thursday afternoon, acknowledging viral videos of the incident and saying its school administration and resource officers are investigating.

“Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the VCS Code of Student Conduct. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain at the foundation of all that we do,” the high school said in the statement.

VPD police chief Leslie Manahan also addressed the fight in a Thursday evening statement.

“We understand that videos like these will cause concern with parents in our community. We want to assure everyone that the altercation will be thoroughly investigated,” Manahan said. “Our priority is the safety and well-being of all the students, and we are working closely with Valdosta City Schools to ensure a safe learning environment.”
