ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Authorities have arrested Cameron Williams in connection with a home invasion and armed robbery in Echols County.
Sheriff Randy Courson reported that at approximately 7:51 a.m., deputies from the Echols County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Service, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia State Patrol K-9 units, and the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office responded to 259 Holmes Road in Homerville after receiving credible information that Williams, a wanted fugitive, was inside the residence.
According to ECSO, several individuals, including the homeowner, were safely removed from the home. With the homeowner’s consent, law enforcement conducted a search of the residence.
Officers repeatedly commanded Williams to surrender peacefully via the PA system. After approximately an hour and a half of non-compliance, chemical agents and flashbangs were deployed. The U.S. Marshals Service then entered the residence and located Williams hiding in a closet, concealed behind plastic totes and a pile of clothes.
Williams was taken into custody and treated on scene for injuries sustained during the arrest. He was later transported to a local hospital for additional treatment and then to the Lowndes County Jail. He now faces multiple felony charges, including:
- 6 counts of Felony Armed Robbery
- 9 counts of Felony Aggravated Assault
- 8 counts of Felony Kidnapping
- 1 count of 1st Degree Felony Home Invasion
- 1 count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felon and Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
Sheriff Courson thanked all agencies involved for their efforts in bringing this dangerous fugitive to justice.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may be forthcoming.
