COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — An unknown "fireball' was seen in the sky over South Carolina on Thursday.
The incident has been reported in multiple states.
Uncertain of what the object may be, the National Weather Service in Charleston is reporting that it could have been over Gasbury, VA.
A satellite-based lightning detector picked up a possible lightning streak in clear skies over Gasburg, VA, near the NC/VA border.
It was detected between 11:51 and 11:56 a.m., according to NWS.
Lexington County officials say that Lexington County Fire Services also responded to several areas where it was sighted, and no smoke, fire, or debris was found.
