FRIDAY PM: A drier and more pleasant summer feel to end the work week. Many of us are starting the afternoon between the upper 80s and low 90s with heat indices shy of 100 once again. Temperatures are not expected to rise much higher. A few afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible generally along and east of I-75 where tropical moisture is more present.

WEEKEND: This weekend brings scattered rain chances in the afternoon. Those mainly near and east of I-75 are more likely to see activity as the tropical wave lingers near the Atlantic Coast. To the west and north, drier air will prevail. Showers and storms can still pop but will be more difficult. Storms can be strong to briefly severe with main threats being heavy downpours, gusty winds and frequent lightning. There’s a Marginal Risk of Excessive Rainfall are wide for Saturday.

EARLY WEEK: Hotter and drier weather takes over next week. Heat indices rise over 100 and may approach 105 by mid-week.
