Description
DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — With temperatures climbing into the high 90’s this week, it’s vital that you know how to keep you and your loved ones safe.
Aug. 17-19 are First Alert Weather Days, with temperatures reaching near 100 and heat index values over 110.
To protect your health, Dougherty County EMS has some ways to stay cool:
- Make sure to eat; avoid fatty and greasy foods that are high in sodium
- Take frequent breaks; find shaded areas if possible
- Drink plenty of water, but don’t let that be the only thing; drink Gatorade, Powerade or drinks high in vitamins and electrolytes
- Look after younger kids and elderly adults
