Description

WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A concerned parent has reached out to WALB after a video that was circulating on TikTok showed at least one student making a derogatory comment to another student about their race.

Following those concerns, WALB contacted Worth County Schools for comment. In their response, the school clarified that there were multiple TikTok videos made with similar content.

In a statement, Worth County Schools confirmed that administrators at Worth County High School became aware of the videos Thursday morning, Feb. 5. School officials said the videos contained racist content, involved Worth County High School students, and were filmed on campus.

The district says immediate action was taken once the videos were discovered. The student responsible for filming and sharing the content was identified and disciplined in accordance with the Worth County High School Code of Conduct.

“The health and safety of our students remain our top priority,” the statement reads. “This commitment extends beyond physical safety to include the mental and emotional well-being of every student. Harassment, bullying, and racism have no place in Worth County Schools and will not be tolerated.”

School officials also emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Students are encouraged to report inappropriate behavior to any staff member, and parents and students can also use the district’s Anonymous Alerts system to confidentially report concerns related to bullying, safety threats, or misconduct.

No additional details have been released at this time. WALB will continue to follow this story as more information becomes available.
