CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) — The Cordele Police Department is investigating after a 67-year-old woman was shot while sleeping in her home early Monday morning.

The shooting occurred in the 900 block of South Joe Wright Drive, where police say the woman was struck in the shoulder by gunfire while she was asleep. She was treated for her injuries, which officials described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities believe this shooting is connected to a separate incident that took place on 19th Avenue around 5 a.m. the same morning. Police are actively investigating both cases and working to determine if the incidents are part of a broader pattern of violence in the area.

The Cordele Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling (229) 276-2921.
