MOVERN, Ga. (WALB) — Brooks County Fire is currently on scene of an agricultural aircraft crash in the area of BCT Gin Road. Fire personnel responded to the incident and are reportedly conducting operations and securing the area.

According to investigators, preliminary information indicates the aircraft was involved in an incident shortly after landing.

Brooks County Fire Chief Ricky Weeks and Asst. Fire Chief Jarod Lanier confirmed the aircraft was a crop duster. Officials say the plane was involved in an incident after landing, causing it to ignite into flames.

The pilot was the sole occupant on board and was able to safely self-extricate from the wreckage. No injuries were reported.

Despite the aircraft catching fire, Chief Lanier confirmed there are no hazardous material spills and no chemical exposure to the surrounding community. The crash site has been secured, and officials emphasize there is no threat to the public.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified and are investigating alongside the Brooks County Fire Department to determine what caused the crash.
