ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Pine Avenue in Albany is closed for the Albany Block Party, an all-day event bringing the community together on Saturday, March 28.

The block party started at 8 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Organizers say the event features live music, food trucks and activities for families, including a water balloon fight.

Community member Adam Inyang said he is proud to see people come together and hopes the city continues to support events like this.

“Events like this help bring the community together. There was a lot of talk about potential violence, but there’s been no violence of any kind. And so this shows the community that we can actually have communal events that are helpful, that are impactful and peaceful. And so, yeah, that’s why it’s important we need to keep doing these. And I hope the city continues to support individuals that bring things like this to the city,” Inyang said.

There was also a health fair during the block party, connecting people with local healthcare experts and resources as another way to support the community.
