ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) —Residents will have a chance to learn more about ongoing neighborhood cleanup efforts this week as Albany leaders spotlight the city’s Operation Clean Sweep program.

Ward 6 Commissioner Diana Brown is inviting residents to attend a press conference on Thursday, June 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Johnny Will Williams Memorial Park, located at the corner of South Madison Street and Johnny W. Williams Road.

The event will focus on Operation Clean Sweep, a city initiative that brings together multiple departments each week to improve neighborhoods across Albany.

According to city officials, Operation Clean Sweep crews work in different areas of each city ward to remove litter and debris, trim brush, mow grass, and address other maintenance needs aimed at improving the appearance and safety of local communities.

Commissioner Brown is expected to discuss the impact of the program and ongoing efforts to keep Albany neighborhoods clean and well-maintained.

City staff and Commissioner Brown will be available for interviews following the press conference.
