ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Albany-Dougherty Government Center and Tax and Tag office are closed to the public due to a strong gas odor.
County officials said the smell was identified on Wednesday, June 10 around 10:30 a.m., and the Albany Fire Department was called. The buildings were evacuated as a precaution.
Fire officials reported the buildings were safe for employee re-entry around 11 a.m. Personnel remain on site and are continuing to investigate the source of the odor.
Officials said the buildings will be closed to the public as a precaution until Thursday, June 11.
