ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department (APD) is addressing multiple social media posts circulating about an alleged “active shooter” at the Albany Mall, within Dougherty County School System facilities, and near the Nottingham and Stuart Avenue area.
According to Facebook post APD, authorities say the information being shared online is not accurate. At this time, officials have confirmed the reports are unfounded.
Police are reminding the community how quickly misinformation can spread on social media, often creating unnecessary fear and confusion.
