Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Albany Police Department (APD) reminds residents to celebrate Halloween responsibly this year.

Chief Persley recommends attending events and trick-or-treating in groups. Persley says visibility is very important with dark costumes. Guardians and children should wear reflective clothing when trick-or-treating. Chief Persley also reminded drivers to be extra careful on Halloween night.

Chief Persley said, “We know there will be an increase in traffic out at nighttime, so we are asking all drivers to be aware of others who will be out and about whether they are attending carnivals or other trick-or-treat activities.”

The Food and Drug Administration also reminds children and guardians to:

  • Avoid eating any candy until it has been inspected at home by an adult
  • Check for any labels for food allergies
  • Remove any choking hazards like gum, peanuts, and hard candy
  • Check all candy wrappers for signs of tampering
