ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Albany police are working to return stolen property to its owners following the arrest of a 13-year-old suspected of breaking into cars.

Officers responded to Georgetown Drive at 2 a.m. on July 31 after receiving a call about someone breaking into vehicles. At the scene, officers located a 13-year-old who matched the suspect’s description.

During the investigations, officers recovered stolen property, vehicle key fobs, and additional evidence linking the juvenile to multiple entering autos

The juvenile was interviewed by investigators before being transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Terrell County.

Police did not say how many vehicles the suspect may have broken into.

Residents are encouraged to follow APD’s 9 p.m. routine removing all valuables from their vehicles and locking them up each night at 9.
