ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Albany State came out on top Saturday, defeating Valdosta State 35–30 in a hard-fought first-round matchup of the 2025 Division II Football Championship at the Coliseum

The game was already in high gear as both South Georgia teams traded big plays early. Valdosta State opened strong, but Albany State answered with key drives and timely stops to keep the score close.

In the second half, the Rams found momentum, punching in crucial touchdowns and holding off a late push from the Blazers. A final defensive stand sealed Albany State’s victory in their first meeting with VSU since 2024.

ASU will play Benedict in the second round of the Division II play offs, next Saturday, Nov. 29.
