ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A $25,000 reward is being offered in connection to the April 5 killing of Devonte Lane in Albany. Officials said Monday, April 20, that any information could be helpful.
The Albany Police Department (APD) is investigating the April 5 shooting on Cochran Avenue.
Investigators said Lane and another person were leaving a gathering when their car was shot.
Deputy Chief Wendy Luster said the reward could inspire someone to step up when they were hesitant to before.
“I don’t think in any way it’s going to hinder the investigation by putting out that large amount of money. It just helps someone who may know even if they have the slightest information that’s going to help our investigators. It may not lead to what we’re looking for, but we’re looking for anything we can in solving those cases. So we know that someone out there has some information. Someone knows something about what happened,” Luster said.
Police said tips can be submitted anonymously. Community cooperation could be critical in helping solve the case.
