ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Nearly two months after someone stole unreleased Beyoncé music off a hard drive in Atlanta, an arrest has been made.

The reported theft happened in a parking garage off Krog Street on July 8 — just two days before Beyoncé’s first “Cowboy Carter” concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Officials believe Kelvin Evans is the man who broke into the SUV. He was arrested by police in Hapeville, just south of Atlanta.

Police said Evans is in jail facing a charge of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft. He was taken into custody for a parole violation on Aug. 26.

The artist’s choreographer and a dancer told police they parked a rental car in a parking deck, and when they returned, the car had been broken into.

Five jump drives containing “watermarked music, some unreleased music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set lists” were taken, an Atlanta Police Department incident report states.

Several other items, including AirPods, a MacBook Pro and two suitcases, were also stolen.

Investigators told CNN that they have not recovered the hard drives that were allegedly taken.

According to the incident report, the vehicle used to commit the crime was a 2025 Hyundai Elantra with Georgia plates. The report noted that cameras in the parking garage captured the incident.

The day after the theft, police called the owner of the Elantra, who said she rented the car out to help pay her bills, the report said.

Officers pulled the car over on Northside Drive and took the driver into custody for marijuana possession.

The driver told investigators that on the day of the theft she’d picked up the Elantra from her mother, who’d rented it from the owner that morning.

The woman told police that Kelvin Evans, her uncle, later called her to come pick him up.

Evans reportedly told his niece he needed to use the Elantra for five minutes. He took the car and returned 30 minutes later, saying he went to a friend’s house, the report said.

The car had four black bags inside when Evans brought it back, according to the report.

Evans then told his niece to meet him at her aunt’s apartment complex on Hank Aaron Drive to drop off the bags.

Surveillance video from the apartment complex shows Evans, his niece and a small child taking the stolen bags out of the car, according to the report.

Evans later returned to the car, put a black bag in the trunk and left on his bicycle.

According to the incident report, one of the stolen items, a MacBook Air laptop, was pinging at the Hank Aaron Drive complex the day of the theft. A stolen MacBook Pro was pinging at an address in Hapeville that day.

Evans is being held in the Fulton County Jail on a $20,000 bond, according to jail records.

The jail records show an extensive arrest history dating back to 2002 on charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and entering an automobile with the intent to commit theft.
