ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A fire weather watch and other weather conditions are a cause of concern for those who want to ring in 2026 with fireworks.
The fire watch, which is for all of metro Atlanta and most of north Georgia, will go into effect at noon on Tuesday. It will last until 7 p.m.
FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Dangerously cold wind chills tonight in Atlanta
The First Alert Weather Team says a fire weather watch means that conditions are favorable for fires to quickly start and spread rapidly.
The First Alert Weather Team said fire conditions will stay elevated through Wednesday night. That’s because of gusty winds, extremely low humidity and dry vegetation, which creates a tinderbox across Georgia. A small spark can start a dangerous fire, the First Alert Weather Team said.
