ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Albany State University celebrated a special milestone during its Founders Day Week with the Presidential Investiture of Dr. Robert O. Scott.

Several honored guests, including university, local and state leaders, joined the campus in celebrating Dr. Scott’s official installation as ASU’s 11TH president.

During today’s ceremony, Dr. Scott reflected on how his family, during his early life, influenced his leadership style and philosophy. He stressed how his goal as president is to inspire pride in the ASU campus from students to the university’s top leadership.

The Board of Regents named Dr. Scott ASU’s president effective May 1, 2025, following a seven-month national search for the university’s next leader.

Dr. Scott returned to higher education after almost two decades in the private sector.

Previously, he served as president of research and development at The Kraft Heinz Co. He was also a vice president at Abbott Nutrition and Vice President at The Coca-Cola Company.
