STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. — Stephens County Schools said a Union County student-athlete was injured during Friday night’s football game at Stephens County High School.

School officials said the student-athlete was injured during the game and airlifted for medical care.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this young man and his family, as well as his teammates, coaches, and the entire Union County school community. We are praying for his recovery and for all those impacted by this very difficult situation,” the school officials said.

Union County High School Head Football Coach Rob Stowe said the student-athlete was released from Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Sunday. He went in “paralyzed” but now has full strength.

The neurologist said the student-athlete suffered a spinal concussion, according to Stowe.
