ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - South Georgia’s own Rosalynn Carter is being remembered in a big way on what would have been her 99th birthday.

Rosalynn Carter is now part of the Atlanta skyline through a massive digital mural displayed on the Georgia’s Own Credit Union building.

Originally commissioned in 2022, the mural was created by local artist Dane Jefferson and features Carter in three different phases of her remarkable life and legacy.

The mural towers 450 feet above the city and stretches the length of roughly two basketball courts, making it a striking tribute to the former First Lady.

Carter, who was born in Plains, Georgia, dedicated much of her life to public service and advocacy. She died in November 2023 at the age of 96.

Today, the Atlanta tribute gives Georgians and visitors another opportunity to celebrate the life and legacy of a woman who left a lasting mark on Georgia and the nation.
