TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Thursday marked National Peace Officers Memorial Day - a day where communities across the nation gather and honor the lives of local, state and federal law enforcement officers who’ve died or become disabled in the line of duty.
Gov. DeSantis ordered all American and Florida state flags to be flown at half-staff throughout the state in honor of the day.
In WCTV’s viewing area, 17 fallen officers from Florida and 14 from Georgia were honored Thursday at the National Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony in Washington D.C.
